EDF Diversiterre Fondation aim’s is to support general interest actions for social bonding and preserving the planet and which unite a great diversity of people, generations, cultures and nature. Since 2008, and for a period of four years up to 2011, the Foundation has taken the decision to join the Network of Major Vauban Sites to promote and enhance fortified heritage.
This sustainable commitment will provide financial aid, both nationally, to ensure and develop networking through Network promotions and communication, and locally, to share in the cultural and territorial development of the sites. Each year, a Commission, chaired by the Foundation, will select two or three projects based on four themes: educational, cross-border and environmental projects; visitors’ facilities and events.
In 2009, the sites de Camaret-sur-Mer, Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue and Mont-Louis were supported. For 2010, the Foundation has selected Blaye, Saint-Martin-de-Ré and Briançon for developing the involvement and instruction of the young public about fortification heritage.

Bouygues Entreprises France-Europe consists of Bouygues Construction subsidiaries in France and western Europe operating in building and civil works sectors. This group has joined the Network of Major Vauban Sites, signing a three-year sponsorship agreement from 2009 to 2011. This partnership is in line with the sustainable development policy that Bouygues Entreprises has pursued for several years now, and with its desire to reinforce environmental awareness in the design of construction works and implementation of work-sites.
Through this cultural patronage, Phillipe BONNAVE, the managing director, wishes to contribute to the enhancement and protection of heritage in the regions where the entreprise operates.
The agreement provides financial aid for the creation by the Vauban Network of an international resource centre for the management of fortified heritage. This project meets the recommendations set out by the World Heritage Committee which wishes to see collaboration between the 12 Vauban Network sites strengthened by the pooling of efficient experiences.
